Alexander Unruh's story unfolds starting May 7, 2003, with his birth at Lankenau Medical Center in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. His journey from a young boy in Bryn Mawr to a committed student and athlete showcases a remarkable blend of academic rigor, sportsmanship, and community engagement.

Early Life and Academics

Alex was raised in Bryn Mawr, where he began his educational path at Gladwyne Elementary School and continued through Welsh Valley Middle School. During these foundational years, he displayed early talents in both academics and athletics, particularly in baseball and squash. His academic and athletic endeavors led him to Harriton High School, followed by a significant period at Westminster School in Simsbury, Connecticut. He returned to Harriton in March 2022 to complete his high school education.

Throughout his school years, Alex Unruh took an active role in sports, playing on the varsity basketball and baseball teams and serving as the captain of the squash team. He also demonstrated leadership through his involvement in the Ozone Art Club and as the head of the spirit committee.

Sports Achievements

From his early days, Alex showed a natural affinity for sports. His involvement in baseball took him to Cuba in eighth grade, providing him with a unique international experience and furthering his athletic and personal growth. In squash, he not only secured a national ranking but also became a recognized athlete at Westminster School, where he earned All-League honors in his first year.

Leadership and Outdoor Activities

Unruh's leadership qualities were significantly shaped during his time at Camp Kieve in Nobleboro, Maine. There, he engaged in various leadership and wilderness activities, such as hiking Mount Washington and canoeing through the Allagash Wilderness Waterway. These experiences not only challenged him physically but also instilled in him a strong sense of responsibility and leadership.

University Life and Greek Involvement

Currently, Alex is a student at Ohio State University, pursuing a degree in Sports Industry with a minor in Political Science. His passion for sports dovetails with his academic pursuits, illustrating his commitment to integrating his interests with his career aspirations. His involvement in Greek life, particularly with the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, began in the fall of 2023 and has been a significant aspect of his university experience.

Professional Experience

Alex's professional journey includes varied experiences, from logistics at UPS to customer service at Zoe's Kitchen, where he worked as a cashier and server. He also served as a counselor at Camp Kieve and currently works at the Philadelphia Country Club, where his responsibilities include managing the bag room and occasionally caddying.

Interests and Volunteering

Outside his professional and academic life, Alex Unruh is an enthusiastic golfer, skier, and weightlifter. His 6.3 handicap demonstrates his commitment to golf. Additionally, he is deeply involved in volunteering, contributing his time to organizations such as Cradles to Crayons and Narberth Food Bank, and participating in church-related service projects.
